British Gas 'to launch renewable energy range'
A new British Gas initiative will see the utility firm sell a range of microgeneration and energy-efficient products when restrictions on the technology are lifted at the beginning of this month.
It is thought that the firm will include solar panels and domestic wind turbines in the new range, as well as a fuel cell boiler, which is currently in development.
The boiler will likely be available by 2010 and will be able to generate electricity through heat and power already inside a house, Marketing Week reported.
This electricity is used instead of energy taken from the National Grid and any left over can be sold into the system for other households to use.
Meanwhile, British Gas is offering a deal on boilers until April 26th. Consumers who purchase a central heating system through the firm before this date could be eligible for a saving of up to £700, the company suggested.
